Who is responsible

Downtown La Fortuna Boutique Hotel, located 25 meters south of the Catholic Church, La Fortuna de San Carlos, Alajuela, Costa Rica. For anything related to your data, write to [email protected].

What data we collect

• Booking data: name, email, phone, dates of stay, number of guests and any preferences you share. Payments are processed by the SimpleBooking booking engine; we do not store your full card details.
• Messages: whatever you send us by WhatsApp, email or phone, including your contact number or address.
• Browsing data: IP address, device and browser type, pages visited and actions on the site, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see below).

Why we use it

• To manage your booking, your stay and any requests you make.
• To answer your questions and send you information you ask for about rates, packages or services.
• To meet legal, accounting and guest-registration obligations.
• To measure how the website is used and improve it.
• To show you relevant ads on Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and measure those campaigns, whenever your browser allows it.

Cookies and third-party tools

This website uses Google Tag Manager to manage measurement and advertising tags, Google Ads to measure conversions, and the Meta Pixel to measure campaigns and build advertising audiences. These tools may set cookies and collect browsing data under their own privacy policies.

You can limit or block cookies in your browser settings, and adjust ad personalization in your Google account (Ad Settings) and your Meta account (Ad Preferences). The SimpleBooking engine and our hotel management system process booking data under their own policies.

Who we share it with

Only with the providers needed to deliver the service: the booking engine and payment gateway (SimpleBooking), the hotel management system, WhatsApp, and the Google and Meta measurement and advertising tools mentioned above. Also when required by law. We do not sell your data.

How long we keep it

Booking data is kept for as long as needed to manage your stay and meet applicable legal obligations. Browsing data is kept according to each tool's retention periods, described in their policies.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, and object to its use for advertising, by writing to [email protected]. We will respond within the timeframes set by law.

Minors

Our online services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from minors without parental or guardian consent.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our tools or the regulations change. The current version and its date will always be published here.
